Calling All Fashion Folks

Hey guys and gals!

I have a request. My brain is frazzled and fried from work and meetings about benefits, etc. I have lots of decisions to make, but I need to get to bed soon and this thought had been gnawing at me for a while.

I want a sundress. The weather is amazing right now and I don’t have a nice cotton sundress to just throw on. This may seem like a strange request, but I’m having a really difficult time finding one that fits my specifications:

  • Has to be easy to wear. Jersey, cotton, something that’s easy to care for.
  • Needs to have thick straps. No spaghetti strings or strapless.
  • I just want something that’s for every day hanging out wear.
  • If it’s not totally casual, it needs to be semi-work appropriate. ┬áLuckily, I work in a really casual place, so a sun dress wouldn’t be inappropriate, but I’d like to refrain from something full of tie-dye or something ridiculously fun for a day off, but garish in a cubicle.
  • Not too short, about knee-length or a little shorter.
  • I prefer V-Necks. But scoop or square is fine.
  • Affordable.

If you’ve seen any sun dresses that match this description, please let me know! It’s ok if it’s online, but it’s double plus good if it’s in a store, as I like to try things on.

It may seem strange that I’m requesting this, but this always happens to me. Whenever I’m looking for one specific item of clothing, I cannot find it. Last year it was a v-neck cardigan (and then any cardigan with a full sleeve), I couldn’t find any! Then it was long length t-shirts. Then it was a work appropriate wrap dress. It always seems like the year (or season) before I want the item of clothing, I see it and think, “Oh, I’m gonna need that. But I can wait.” And then it’s too late! And then the next year, it’s EVERY WHERE! Gah, it’s so frustrating. But even last summer I was looking for a sundress that met these specifications and I still couldn’t find one, so now I’m putting out a call for help.

Here are some examples of awesome type dresses (but just so happen to be no longer available).

Green V-Neck Sundress

This is certainly not my favorite shade of green, but I love this cut. It's from JCrew, but it's out of stock. čśŽ

Green Sleeved V-Neck Dress

This green is much better and this dress has such a flattering waist!

Printed Shift Sundress

A fun print for a simple shift dress.

Little Black Dress

A little black dress that's perfect for warm weather

And those are some fine examples. But, ya know, whatever! Just send ’em my way.

Thanks in advance, fashionistas!

No Justification Necessary

So, because I was too tired, I didn’t get to watch tonight’s episode of Justified, but I DVR’ed it and will be watching it ASAP. If y’all haven’t checked out this show, you should make an effort to do so. Want some reasons? Here’s ten.

  1. It’s still early in the season so you won’t get lost.
  2. Timothy Olyphant is wonderful as US Marshall Givens. The dude is so talented it’s ridiculous.
  3. The used a friggin’ rocket launcher in the first episode!
  4. Actually decent southern accents. It’s so refreshing.
  5. Episodes are available On Demand from Time Warner Cable. In HD! Soooo awesome.
  6. Next year, everyone will be talking about how excited they are for Justified’s return and if you don’t watch now you’ll totally not be a part of the cool kid club.
  7. The author of the original story(ies) the show was based off of, gives his seal of approval. How often does a writer like the way a show/movie interprets his/her work?
  8. Gunslinging.
  9. The whole cast is great. I know Timothy Olyphant is the name behind the show, but the ensemble is just perfect.
  10. It’s a modern day Western that pulls off well-written story arcs that hold potential for character development and plot diversity. They’ve set the show up to be centered around the main character (Givens) and his growth, but with the different tasks the Marshall has to do, the show should always be varied.

Watch!

Jitters and Impressions

Today I am nervous.

I’m totally second guessing my outfit. But I have received some compliments already. I know I’m supposed to be mostly casual, but I don’t wanna be too informal. And I definitely don’t wanna look like I’m trying to hard.

Sound off if you feel so inclined. I’ll let you know how everything goes sooner or later.

Also, it’s really weird that I like these Kaboodle things. Seriously, I think they’re intended for 13-year-olds.

This is what I’m wearing (belt’s on the waist). Wish me luck!

Ready, Aim, Chuck!

Oh y’all know the drill. SPOILERS FOR CHUCK! If you haven’t seen last week’s episode, that is.

This season has been fun and with the past episode it’s become more obvious as to where the writers had originally intended for the storyline to go when the season was just 12 episodes long. But now they’ve got 20+ episodes for the season and they’re just getting started. It’s such a fun, fun show, if you’re not watching it, you should be.

Now for the reviewcap, after the jump!!!

Pink Champagne Cake and other plans

Woahhhh! Almost forgot to post tonight. I got in under the wire, didn’t I?

Seriously, at 11:26 I realized I hadn’t blogged. That’s especially bad considering I had wordpress open for a while this afternoon. Unfortunately, I got distracted by the movie Law Abiding Citizen. Goodness, that was a depressing movie.

SPOILER! Jamie Foxx’s character is not sympathetic and he doesn’t really learn his lesson. The ending was totally unsatisfying. /END SPOILER!!!

Blah, but it wasn’t a horrible movie, it just left me feeling like the world we live in is a mostly terrible place. But oh well, I have hope that that’s not the case.

Proof of that? This discovery:

Pink Champagne Cake

So cute! So yum!

That’s a pink champagne cake that I found on the blog EpiCute. I know I’ve talked about it before, so I won’t go into detail, but when I saw that cake I knew exactly what I wanted to fix for Easter and breaking Lent.

I also may have to have a breakfast of donuts that day, but that’s beside the point.

The point is that I’m looking at recipes and I can’t decide if I want to make an actual pink champagne cake or just a champagne cake (since I have a bottle of Korbel already). So much deliberation!

Other plans and decisions I’m laboring over? What to wear on a first date. Why is that such a hard decision? I know it shouldn’t be, but these things matter for a first impression. Oh well, I’ll figure it out by Monday.

Also, I’m still trying to figure out what I’m going to do about blogging after my 100 days are up. They’re ending soon, but I don’t know what to do afterwards. Maybe take a week off then go back to blogging everyday? Or just commit to at least twice a week? I like the exercise of writing, but if I don’t have to blog every day I’ll be scraping the barrel less often.

Oh well, I’ll figure it out sooner or later.

Until then, there’s the dream of cake!

The follow post contains lots and lots of ranting, mention of religious practices and general obnoxiousness.

Not in the mood for the whiny crap? Here’s a cookie, please don’t jump.

Chocolate Chip Cookie

Yum! Peace offerings are delicious.

I’m gonna chop you!

Ok, I know, I know, I know.

But I was kind of accosted for the past… 3 hours on IM. I’ll explain later, but hopefully if work isn’t too busy tomorrow I’ll try and blog a little. But DL that, yes?

To make it up to you, I need to plug Axe Cop.

Axe Cop

I'm gonna chop you.

This webcomic is amazing. It’s written by a 5-year-old 6-year-old (he just had a birthday) and the artwork is done by his 29-year-old brother. It’s a double plus good scenario because the writing is insanely creative and the artwork is just doggone great. Remember all of those insane diatribes you went on when you were five? That weird junk you made up about the dust bunny utopia that existed on top of the shelves where dust bunnies learned their ninja ways. Or the time you thought up the intergalactic Peach v. Mushroom battles… Yea, imagine if someone took those stories and put them into comic form.

Yea, that cool. Check it out.

Also, because I need to apologize a little more, please except this picture as a sufficient apology.

Corgi Puppy

...

Corgis are the official ambassadors of cute apologies.

Oh and if you don’t like to read, here’s Axe Cop part one on YouTube.

Enjoy.

Mighty Mini Post! (pt. 4)

Dangit. TOTALLY ran out of time. Let’s see how quick I can finish this up…

  • What’s the deal with this Justin Beiber kid? His music is on the radio, but, why is he so popular? This is been on my mind more frequently since @ConanObrien started a goofy little one-sided tweet fight. Oh good times. But not. Because it’s about how a little baby is about to control the world with his autotune.
  • @ is now art. Seriously. Check it. MoMA has acquired the rights to the @ symbol to be a part of a new exhibit.
At symbol

M@sterpiece

  • I didn’t post about what I wanted to because I was busy signing up for things. Being an adult is starting to snowball and everything is happening almost unexpectedly. That’s a weird statement.
  • Chuck and Sarah got number one TV couple. How cute is that?!? They were being a smidge obnoxious in the last couple of episodes, but I’m just glad to hear that the fans are so passionate about the show.
  • Does anyone have any good homeopathic remedies for sinus pressure headaches or allergies? Starting to really feel the springtime head pressure.
  • I’ve really enjoyed Aviary as an image editing tool (since I’m completely without any fun Creative Suite/Photoshop stuff) and it’s great that they’ve opened up their accounts to have more accessibility for free accounts. Bravo Aviary folks.
  • I wanna live somewhere else. But it’s fun being at home for now. Yes?
I don't wanna grow up

This.

Oh wow, this headache is like killing me. Sorry y’all but I’m gonna have to boogie.

Thank goodness OK Go puts it in perspective.

Night y’all!

    Tortoise and the Haircut

Oh I know I said I’d make the dating post today, but I told y’all not to hold me to it. And thank goodness! Today I was busy at work, so I didn’t have anytime for some on the sly blogging and I got squeezed in for a haircut.

    Thank goodness.

My ends were starting to get prickly and I knew last week I would need one and I called on Saturday and left a message and crossed my fingers. The stylist squeezed me in and now I feel so much better. Good hair health equals good mental health. I’m in this weird phase where I’m trying to grow my hair out for Locks of Love; it’s long enough, probably, but now that apparently everyone likes me so much better with long hair (which is awesome considering how long I had short hair…) I’m trying to get it pretty long so that way when I donate it, I’ll still be closer to shoulder length and I’ll be able to grow it back out quickly. It’s all very complicated, you see.

The other complicated part? I decided to venture down bang street again. Oh my love/hate relationship with bangs. I generally like they way they frame my face, but I have days where I’m like, “What did I do!?!” This is normally because of the fact that sometimes my hair gets whispy and then my bangs get all sticky-uppy. And then there are times when I can’t get my bangs to go back and I’m all like, “Grow, hair!” And then sometimes they lay just right and life is parfait. And not dessert, the French word for perfect.

Anyway, because of my supremely awesome haircut (oh, and I got my streak toned out, so all you haters can swig the last of your haterade) and a supremely awesome episode of Chuck, I ran out of time to blog. Because I moved to slowly. Get it, tortoise and the hair- eesh.

Now time for a visual pun. I found this image after googling “tortoise hair” and I loved the simplicity and softness of the water colors.

    Tortoise with Hair!

This image is copyright the artist Charrow, but since I'm awful and this blog has no credentials, I didn't ask for permission... Hope I don't get in trouble!

The artist, Charrow, has some really lovely stuff on her site. It’s worth checking out for some vibrant soft prettiness. Also, spoiler alert, some of the images feature cute doggies and kitties. Please go see!

    Ok, that’s it kidlets.

Tomorrow I’ll blog about what I need to blog about. Maybe.
