One-Oh-Oh

100

Holy crap. I did it. April 10th is the 100th day of the year and my 100th post of the year. Most of my posts totally sucked, but I still finished something I started. And that’s pretty awesome for me. It’s fitting that today I tried to do a little spring cleaning (it’s gonna be a long project), because this blog is gonna be the kick off to some more changes. I’ve decided to not keep blogging every single day, opting for substance over stats. But I’m going to blog at least once a week.

Anyway, no Chuck post tomorrow, but I will post it on Monday (probably). For now, I’ll let you know that I spent the day enjoying the weather and completely not worrying about posting. So in honor of that: Pic Spam!

Matthew 28

The Resurrection

1After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb.

2There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. 3His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. 4The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.

5The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.7Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.”

8So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. 9Suddenly Jesus met them. “Greetings,” he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. 10Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.”

Yarg! Don’t you hate it when you spend so long thinking about what you want to write about you totally flub up your own deadline and then have to push it to tomorrow? I hate that. But, I love making pirate noises, so, upside!

Since I procrastinated too long on trying to respond back to @jwmoss’s inquiry, I’m gonna make this a mighty mini post, because it’s about time I did a round up. AHOY!

  • St. Patrick’s Day is tomorrow. Wear green and don’t get pinched. Don’t wear green and you can get pinched then give a law suit! Just wear green and have fun. Also, if you’re imbibing, do so safely. I have no plans, because I need to wake up at 5:45 in the morning during the week, so someone can sip a Guiness for me.
  • I’m gonna try and add “upside” to things when I notice I’m being too much of a downer. Example, “Today, at the dentist, I found out I have a cavity… Upside! It’ll be tooth covered and I have brand spanking new dental insurance benefits, soooo, sweet!
  • I may have mentioned this before, but it begs repeating, Lee Pace is too friggin’ cute. Seriously. Following the Pie Holers on tumblr is making me swoon daily. Awkward hands in pocket shuffling and nervous smiles makes me laugh. I may have to go buy both seasons on DVD and smile beaucoup.
Lee Pace

Adorable + Glasses = Geek Chic

  • Also adorable? Curtis Stone. I’d forgotten how cute he was since for some stupid reason Take Home Chef is no longer on television. But he is on the Biggest Loser and he’s so sweet and charming. Also, fun? The ladies on the show totally agree and always swoon when he’s around. I like when people on TV say what I’m thinking, bonus points if they get my exact facial expression down. Side note? How friggin’ obvious is it that the Blue Team is stacked to win. IT MAKES ME SO MAD! I can’t decide if it’s because Michael was so unabashed about it or the fact that Sam is a super stand-up guy who deserves to win and yet may loose it because he’s on a weaker team. Bummer.
  • A big thanks to Kohl’s for messing up a return, but then having an awesome customer service employee be so sweet and totally make up for it. Plus, when I wanted to buy the shirt, I got an e-mail alert for a Kohl’s online sale so I got 15% off my purchase. Everything ended up working out great.

Ok, lemme tell you something. While searching for fun St. Patty’s day pics I found some really adorable ones and I just want to post them. I’m actually so distracted by how cute some of these are that I can’t really think of anything else to add to the mighty mini list, which means y’all get a pic spam.

Enjoy:

Now to try and end the day on a high note: bed!

Reeeeeeeaaaaading RAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIINBOOOOOOOOOOOWWW!!

Sorry.

I can’t start that quote without finishing with a flourish. Well, today was a bummer, but I finished it up with a trip to the gym and then grocery shopping (for yougurt!) so it wasn’t totally miserable, but sometimes you just get in a funk and you can’t shake it. When that happens I always think of a book I read when I was younger:

Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

...

It’s a great children’s book, if you’re not familiar, but it always puts things in perspective. Also, when I think about one kid’s book, I generally think of others I used to love when I was little.

Yayyyy Picspam.

goodnight, moon

The illustrations in this book are lovely! And the story is so sweet.

pokey little puppy

All of the Little Golden Books are great, but this always sticks out in my mind.

Dr. Seuss

Always a classic.

Happy Birthday, Doc.

Tu me manques

A friend of the show (I love that phrase, despite the fact that it’s not appropriate to this situation) prompted a question about where you’d rather be. And really, Paige put it much more eloquently than I, but if you suffer from tl;dr (and if you do, why are you here?), what it boils down to is that Paige was feeling nostalgic about her time in Perugia and she wondered what people were missing, etc.

Last night, at Vintage 21, the pastor mentioned something similar and talked about how sometimes you’re in exile. In Jeremiah, the Israelites assumed they’d be in exile for just a few months, but it was supposed to be for two generations. The point was that, even though you may feel like you need to be somewhere else and that where you are is only temporary, but in reality you need to prepare for the long haul. You need to love the place you’re in… Or at least anticipate a long stay.

That’s kind of hard for me to swallow. Especially with the memory of LA (a fantastic city for marketing and cinema) fresh in my mind and the dreams of Paris still lingering. The city has taken an incredible hold of me and I doubt I’ll ever forget a moment of the 3 months I spent there.

For the longest time I thought I was crazy for missing Paris as much as I did/do. Sometimes I’d get bummed out looking at my old pictures because I missed not being in that city. It held so much rhythm, life, culture, movement, art, vitality, fun, adventure and promise. Even at my most homesick (hello, Christmas) I felt like I never wanted to leave. I walked everywhere and enjoyed all the sights, sounds, smells… Despite the cliche, the people were lovely. A few well placed “s’il vous plait”s and “bonjour”s and most of the folks were more than willing to chat with you and talk about they’re passion for their shop or the family or their music. It was such an amazing town.

Anyway, I loved the place and before I loved the city and the country, I loved the language. “Tu me manques” means I miss you, but it literally translates to “You are missing from me.” It’s so much more… romantic to think of it like that. If you miss someone, you acknowledge that they’re not there, but it doesn’t carry the same weight. When someone is missing from your life you feel the impact acutely. The lack of that person’s presence hangs heavy in your atmosphere. And in this case, that person is the city of lights.

Whites Out

Alright kidlets I had to stay late at work today, only to have to leave at about 7:30 so that I could beat the snow.

Bottom line I’m mostly exhausted and have no idea what to write about… Except maybe about how crazy the full moon makes everything.

Any who, I though it’d be fun to do a snow day picspam of a snow day from about two years ago at Elon. Enjoy…

Alright y’all, enjoy your snow day tomorrow if you got it!

Say Hey, Bed.

So, I took a sleep aid about 10 minutes ago and already my head is starting to get that tingly sensation from my brain going, “Sleep, stupid.” But in true American spirit, I’m fighting things I don’t understand! Don’t write letters. It’s a joke. I’m watching Daily Show. Just accept the humor. I love America and I love fighting. Go watch some football until the urge to call me a pinko commie womyn’s lib-er subsides.

Tomorrow, if my blog ranting about how inane romantic comedies are goes up as planned, you can expect even more enragement. But until then!

A picture of a kitten.

Kitten in My Dorm Room Freshman Year

This cat was found by one of my suite mates my freshman year in college. This kitten was also found to be adorable.

Also, some things I wanna talk about. In a word: recaps. There are some shows out there that I absolutely adore. Even though they’re dumb and often trashy. I was wondering if I should recap a few of them for your enjoyment?

You’re not reading anyway, so I’ll through a couple shows out there and decide on my own.

Tough Love (VH1)- Love this show, love Steve Ward, and love the crazy hot messes that are on that show. Basically the aforementioned hot messes need to find a date because the crazy train they’d been riding before hand was keeping them single, so Ward comes in and Jersey’s it up and gives them pretty sound advice. Also, Taylor looks like a persian cat with orange eyes. This never fails to make me giggle.

Cake Boss (TLC)- A JUHRSAY BAKERY, FUHGEDDABOUTIT! No, seriously, Buddy, the proprietor and head baker talks like that. AND makes amazing cakes. It’s a household favorites around here. A lot of it is clearly staged, but the characters are soooo lovable.

Chuck (NBC)- I adore this show and the season is starting up this Sunday. It’s geeky, but not in a way that it alienates people, it’s hilarious and the comedy works no matter who the audience, and the action is fun with the relationship adding a really adorable factor to the show. Anyway, if you’re reading this, you’ll probably like “Chuck.”

Ok, so answer me. Shall I tell you of any or all of these shows’ awesomeness?

Clearly the answer is zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

In case you’re wondering that means the sleep meds are dragging me away.
